Workshop of Photography

Last saturday I decided to attend to a workshop of photography, that I was thinking for almost 3 months... and for some reason I was always delaying it. I can't say it was a total waste of my time and money, no. I did learn a few things, but some how I kept thinking I could learn more...
One think that was really annoying was the fact the trainer kept saying I didn't had the right posture to take a snap and I should be in this triangule body position and he also said this is like 'tai chi'... I really don't think that would make me became a better photographer.

But nevertheless I did learn to use my camera and to not let be overtaken by the light, basically I learn that I can control the light and it was a big step for me. Along with the fact that I now have new knowledge of my camera in manual mode.

After 2012 ended, we decided to improve our website image, improve its usability make it more user friendly, and so on... This renovation its a fruit of our desire to change, to improve and top ourselves always and everyday and most of all, never to stop!
Thats why we are improving our website!

Beside all that, we also needed to analise the year of 2011, found out that our clients enjoy most, what can we do better and also check our website and blogs tracking visitors. And today we are so trilled to found out only during 2011 we had over 2500 visitors and the average time is 58 minutos! This is HUGE!!
We also were visited by more than 24 countries, like Holland, Canada, Russia, USA, France, Pakistan, Brazil or even Thailand among many others!

Since APDesign design those two 2011 Bianca's Calendar, we had a few more projects with some mediatic exposure, despite our silence here and in the website.

Almost 2 months ago, we design for Bianca Organization two posters involving Bianca and they partners.

New challenges

APDesign had a few challenges and therefore little time to wrote or post anything here or facebook or even twitter.

One of the project we have been working it for a while and now it complete, done, finish out to be bought.

This have been a long project - since june - and last week was finally ready. You can buy it here: http://www.fazendoanimaisfelizes.blogspot.com/ This is an online store/blog of a group of friends of Bianca organization who made and sell several objects and all sales goes to Bianca.

Bianca's Calendar 2011 is ready! After so many months producing, designing and executing this calendar, he is out!

It had been a huge pressure and enthusiasm about this calendar, even with more pressure because APDesign also organized the photoshoot, contact make-up artist, photographers, visited spaces and meet several professional to make 2011 calendar a big success for Bianca. We enjoy and love every minute of it, even the headaches it gave us... Now seeing the results, we realized worth all the efforts.
Inicially this was to be only in portuguese calendar with bold and fashionable pictures and bigger production than the other years, but with the production and with time the idea of a portuguese calendar stop to make total sense and an idea of english and portuguese calendar became stronger. More ideas, proposals ... people start to be interessed in this project and wanted to participated and be a part of this calendar, so many wanted that we had to make not one calendar but two. So after two days of shoots, where in o I had to make-up a couple of models, I had to dressed all of them, guide them and given instructions to the photographers, two beautiful and bold calendars became real with the participation of two dozens of volunteers as models given their body and soul to this cause.

Another exciting project APDesign had was one wedding invitation. APdesign spent weeks drawing and illustrating the wedding invitation guided by an beautiful and sweet bride who in the end loves it. The young couple lived in London but they are portuguese so this invitation needed to be bilingual and because they loves to travel and meet new places the theme was trips/travel. For those who know this young couple knows this theme fit like a gloove and it ideal for this wedding. Soon, but only after the weeding I will show photos of this invitation.

Canon Ad

The new and fresh ad of Canon was created by Dentsu London, an design and criativity studio based in London, that also made the I-Pad Ligth-painting.
I was amazed by this work in several ways. All details of colours study, sound, chemical propertys of ink, etc.

But I think the best its to get inside of the artits 'brains' and finding out how they get inspired and how they design the ad.

A new project of webdesign

I just finish a new project, a website for a small and very young design agency named 'Porta de Comunicação', which means "Communication Door" in english and I'm very happy about this. I design the layout, I also made some of the images usedon the website images, programmed and did most of the work of webmaster and SEO. Village Underground goes to Portugal.

Village Underground will came to Portugal where old and fashionable electric trains will be upgraded and remodeled to receive young artists. This spaces will be rented for a small price because these young artists may not have economic power to rent another space.
This project began a few years ago in London and since then have been a sucess essencially between designers, architects and artists in general.

Now Portugal, Lisbon will have a chance to try go forward with this project - well at this moment the young designers and artists don't have economic power and freedom to rent their own space - but the founder of the project already visit Lisbon and a few places were choosen.
Well we will be waiting for more details and info about this.

Logorama is a animation film based in millions of logos, international and famous logos to build a extraordinary story - same may say a story about our society, who knows.
Personaly its brilliant... very well made, with good quality, good soundtrack. I got to see it!!

Colors for daltonian

While I was studing design in university, I had a collegue in my class that she use to say she was daltonian but her favourite color was (and still is I guess) something in the middle of red and orange. Honestly I never understood very well this... She been daltonian yet she claims to see colors. I don't know but it doesn't matter for this case.

What brings me today was the fact one portuguese designer, named Miguel Neiva, invented a color code for daltonian, based on simbols and monochromatic contrast.
This code have a little bit reference, I guess, on morse code and the designer Miguel Neiva pretend this code to be adopted for all institutions, organisations, companys and make this code used all over the world, making the daltonian life easier, specially children in the school, where they first feel blocked and confronted by this illness and with this code them surely would get over it faster and eventually felt more secury about themself. And many professions are probiden for daltonian such as plain pilots, graphic industry, fashion, etc and with ColorAdd this situation could finish.
Several national and international companys show their interess about it! In Portugal, CIN an ink company already use it, making them pioneer and they surely upgraded in costumers opinion.
Who knows in the future, this code may make for all millions of daltonian in the world more easy, by using it.
In all cases, I give my congratulations to designer Miguel Neiva and his ColorAdd.

I really want to share with all of you one of my hobbies - photography.
Everytime I can I go out with my camera to 'snap' and everytime I can I also take a walk on the beach with at least one of my dogs. And mixing this two elements - honestly it is three elements, my dogs, beach and my camera - I have a pretty good pics to share.

Well the first sequence it about my dog running wild and me trying to catch up his pace.

The second sequence it all about waves! it's better if I example...
When I was a child I remember seeing the ocean, beach and the waves gone wild winter after winter but suddenly I can't recall what was the last time I saw waves this big! I was walking my dogs when i saw this big wave ending on the road just in front of my house and I felt this huge need to go out there and take as many as I could pictures of it. Well I did! Over 600 pictures of waves, beach, surfers and other details provided by this cenario. In the end I was cold and full of little drops of sea water in my clothing, hair and lips! Two great hours...

You can not imagine the sound of this waves!

And even here where I was, a quite area, I had an eye in the sea, just in case.

My first reaction when I passed the airport door and see all that snow was a mixt of sensations between being admired and amazement in the middle of all that agitation with 2 dogs, a suitcase, skykennels and my handbag... My first thought was "Not that cold!"... Yes in my head it should be a huge almost unbearable coldy weather. I even exchange emails with my host who told me it was cold and snowing like it wasn't for a few years and so, for me someone accustomed to beach life and not snowing weather, that means unbearable weather. But I was wrong, I must cretaed this horrible weather to prepare myself, because if I went there with a 'nice idea' I surely would be dissapointed and noticed much more the diference. I know here in Portugal, with mediterranean climate, the weather is different...

Beside I left Lisbon early, around 16h, I arrived Copenhagen very late and lockers service was already closed! This little detail made my trip plans a big turn, because I was supposed to leave the skykennels on the lockers and take the subway to my hosts house... it was 2 skykennels very big apart the weight. With the lockers service closed I needed to change my plans and take a cab and here I tasted for the first time Denmark lifestyle. One cab trip, not very long or extraordinarie trip, I paid almost 35euros!!! Later I had a chance to see that in Denmark the prices are near the double comparatively to Portugal. Even later, when I was talking to my hosts, they told me the crisis - yes that big economical crisis - didn't had big effects in danish lifestyle and only recently people start to feel the effects of the crisis. They also asked me if in Portugal we felt it and who long we had it, etc., which illustrates the effects of the crisis in different countries.
But lets forget crisis and speak something more interessing!

Copenhagen it's a beautiful city full of rivers and brigdes and docks - many of this docks were built by one of the Denmark King - parks, statues covered by snow on that winter day and of course snow!

Seems to me Danish people are proud of their culture and history, once it's commum to see on top of the building an statue of dragon or other national symbol commum in their myths and legends or even to see statue of national figures of danish poet or novelist or writter in the middle of the square been glorified, like in this case: Hans Christian Andersen's Statue surrounded by other statues of his own caracthers creation.

I walk around Copenhagen for almost 7 straight hours, looking for souvenirs, the city and trying to go to the most important places there, and I stablish in my mind next time I only will see museums and I really need to try more typical danish food.
Well, Denmark has a very strong raising pigs and therefore it's very usual to see little kiosks with hot dogs with one amazing sauce maned remoulade which is divine and mandatory to eat!! But danish recipes and tradicional food aren't just sausages, and on saturday dinner, my two hosts prepared specially for me a typical 50 or 60's food, very famous back then. It was small fried meatballs with slices of potatoes oven-cooked with cream sauce. They also introduce on potatoes a small variation and put celery which gave it a nice touche. To drink we had typical beers - my favourite was Didrik and we had also applejack, which was my first time drinking cider and I just love it!
And with all this I spent my day in Copenhagen walking around, still I had strenght enough to see nightlife.

From Copenhagen itself I kept on my memories only good ones. I would like to visit again, attend to museums and taste more Danish food.

Yes, under this snow and ice there is a lake!

My way back trip had a few mishaps... In Copenhagen airport everything was chaotic because of the snow and bad weather and because the airplane maintance forgot to fill the water tank of the airplane and because of all that my flight was delayed almost one hour and half! When I arrived at Palma de Maiorca airport the connection flight was already landing in Portugal and I had to go to Barcelona, where I had to switch terminals and wait another 1h30 minutes to boarding. It was stressful and I only could wish to finally go home.

Beside all this disastre, I had a chance to fly with TAP, a portuguese air company. And yes, what is national is good (I'm sorry for this, but this is a portuguese marketing slogan) and in this particular case it's VERY GOOD! Between all companys I already fly, TAP is by far the best one, not only in physical conditions of the aircraft but also in service of the flight assistances and the food is just divine! I had one sandwich with smoked meat, letture and an special bread... that really made me want to eat more.
And this little details can really make a difference, the food, service and they also had an mag from TAP to offer, with very nice and interessing articles and all this points in favour for TAP put it in another level of excellent. And in my humble opinion, TAP deserved to be mention for that.

Denmark in my map!

Last weekend I had to fly to Copenhagen and this trip reveled to be unique in same way.

Well, the trip was divided in 2 parts: From Lisbon to 'Palma de Maiorca' and from Palma to Copenhagen and by this I had a chance to experiment 2 types of flying services.

The first part - Lisbon to 'Palma de Maiorca' (from now on refered as PM.) - was supported by this company named Niki, which I never before heard about and I thought it was another low-cost company because the logo of this company is a fly... Not very good for a logo, I might say it!
But to tell the truth, this is not a low-cost company and actually the service its very good. I was surprised, specially with the security measures broadcast on TV, with 3D modells and, by the way, they also have 3D modells of the airplane flying and demonstrates take off and landing. This might confort and be peacefull for all that anxious passengers, because this gives us a sense of control and power knowing exactly what the airplane is doing, which altitude, velocity, etc...
I know the service was not the best I experienced, but this modern stuff gave me a good feeling of flying with them. The only catch was the fly speeking to us in the end of the fligth and came on it's a fly. We always associate it to bad things and the first time I saw the airplane with a fly on it I thought, "This will be a shitty trip!" and it wasn't!

The second part - from PM. to Copenhagen - was twice longer and made by Air Berlin.
Air Berlin have this airplanes with a few more inchs space between rows and also the corridor it's bigger, giving to the passengers more space to move and relax and therefore more confort! You see, same times an extra inchs its all it takes to make a big diference!!
Because I was travelling with animals, and one of them was with me on cabinet as hand bagadage (known as PET) this animal must go on the floor next to the feets, but in Niki's airplane there was not space enough for the animal and in Air Berlin's airplane it fits like a glove! Giving me a quite and save trip.
I also enjoy - or should I say love - the food service! When I was flying with this company, it was dinner time and because I didn't had eaten almost nothing all day, I decided to recused the sandwich they offered me and order something better. And I was so glad I did this. I order 'sansibar' classics menu which consist on a chickenbreast marinade in cajou on a bed of pasta and spinach with Holland sauce (see here the menu). My choice was perfect and besides being a little hot spicy which i'm not a fan, really conforts me and I enjoy my meal forgetting the hto spice and I didn't regret a bit!!

But until I land in Copenhagen I had even two more new experiences... One of them was using the rest room on a airplane. My past trips had been short ones and therefore I never had to go but now this trip was longer and the connections between flights was so small in time that I didn't have time to rest and relax.
Well here I had the others experience... On my way to the bathroom a girl decide to put her feets on the corridor on the exact moment I was passing by. Can you imagine what happen? Yes I felt - not before I crambled for a few meters - and I actually hurt my finger and it wasn't so bad because another passenger pick me up in time. If he did not grab me I would be hurt big time!!

Forgeting all this adventures had been to arrived Copenhagen, I manage to get there in one piece, as well the 3 dogs that were with me and I was hoping to see snowing like the captian said earlier it would be. And for the first time I saw snowing, I saw snow falling down the sky and I love it!!

Beside that, landing in Copenhagen was the smoothest and well done I ever saw and been in until today!

Freezelight and Machinarium

Well, in my research and discovering - which I always like to share it - I found another criative group, this time from Russia, but they like to play with light! And what a nice play!
I must say that, lately russians have been surprising me often, in a good way... Even not a long time, I found a russian firm who developed a game, with very beautiful illustrations, about robots, which they gain several international awards with it! Oh the soundtrack is also very good and appropiate for the game.

I played the demo and I found myself wanting the full game. But, for now it's only available an online version and in this case I agree it could be a real asset if there was an physical version with booklet and a few extras! I would buy it and I also know a few persons that would buy it too.

As you all know, I'm an Industrial Designer and, therefore, I have an huge passion for almost everything about 3D, modelling, innovating design or projects, etc.

Organic in unusual spaces

When I was studying, I had this teoric discipline with Professor Paulo Maldonado, a few years back now!, and had to do a dissertation about one of ExprimentaDesign display around several places in Lisbon.
Beside this have been an group assigment, my part of the apresentation was only about Organic Concrete, which where displayed at Palácio Pombal in Lisbon. I recall perfectly going there with my colleagues and dear friends and this piece of design missed us completely, because it was on this place where wasn't seen and we had to ask to one of the vollunteers there where Organic Concrete was. It was a shame!

In 2005, when this organic concrete was developed, it was already something innovative and promising but still be it and maybe this is the rigth time for it, for it be used on public spaces or even privates spaces. Becomes more valuable structural and visual! I really don't recall but I think this was not much talked back then, but in 2007 e-studio, the studio who design Organic Concrete, won an international award on OrganicArchitect in 2007. I don't want to believe only outside Portugal, portuguese design is appreciate and valued.

Beside that, when I had to report my work about this product - organic concrete - I also had to search and analize other similar products that somehow have an connection to this product, either ideologically or constructive or another kind of similarity. If at that time I would found this, I would have completed more my work, my wirk and my colleagues, of course.
I found this some time ago, by the same time I found this blog of lifehacker, but I found it and if it is used like is shown on photos, it can take us, our workspace and ambient into something more greener and organic, at least in an usual way than plants in vessels. I think this shelf may also be great in a kitchen with a few spices planted on it. It's something I can imagine in my own kitchen.

Who don't like to receive mail? A simple postcard - no matter what on it or from who - it's many times appreciate... sometimes feels good to know someone is willing to know about us, remmember us and send us a postcard! May seams impersonal but if we take a good though about the era we are, the tecnological and digital era, it's not so strange someone needing to exchange and contact with another human being. Sharing and postcard crossing is a good way to keep the old fashion way of mail and yu can always receive a postcard from a tottal stranger but you know both have at least one thing in commum, the taste and teh pleasure for stamps or postcards.
I admit I enjoy receive and send postcards and letters and recently I found out about this website where everyone is invited to exchange postcards with this giant community whit members all over the world, just for the fun to do it. It's fun.

Artistic photographys

When artistic photos is the issue, in my mind pops irrealistic almost ghostly or even angelic/morbid picture. And as much I like all kind of pictures, this kind is undoubtedly my favourite and here it's a very good example of that.
Really good artistic photos and even being taken under water we get the idea of freedom and in some cases seams the model is jumping on the air and not under water. It's freedom in a physical, liquide element.

Let's face it, what can be seen from this list! It seems that the Designer is a multifaceted person/worker that beside designing, is also a receptionist, telephonist, Account, Sales, etc ...

This makes me very angry ... Not that I don't like to work but put all this roles jobs only proves that in Portugal the Designer is not seen as a Designer but some kind of person how makes drawings (often very nice ones) and needs to work for a living so let's explore this needing and hire someone to do a bit of everything and on top being ignored... If not, on profile requirements should be also the desired computer skills and they said it like is not very important!

Came on!

It seems to me unfair and incorrect, that these companies do this to us designers... we studied, we paid for it, we try to be someone and work honestly and then this! It is wrong and if I ever have to hire someone else will do it with much respect!

Well people, the fact I had an account on Twitter and Facebook, makes me realize that beside all the euphoria about Facebook (at least in Portugal), Twitter have must more facts, events of interest than facebook. And I don't say it just for saying... no, I tell it in firsthand. Through Twitter, I found and embrace a brand new world, people and events exponentially while in Facebook, I only have access to my circle of friends and in a certain way this restricts my horizon of discovers.
But well... enough of publicity of Twitter and let's go to what really matters and make me write this post after I found it through twitter. And it's something with interessing.

I admite that personally and professionaly I was a little bit jealousy... this blogs/websites are aesthetically appealing and the designer responsible for them can do something I can't do, use white as background. I admite I can't used it freely, without end feeling tried (white as background tires more than black... Autocad designer know it!) and I always feel the design is unfinished. I really don't think I have some kind of aversion to white, but I think that color don't always work! But in this cases, yes it work and I propose to you see it for yourself.

I think is world wide known that Linux and Mac is two must stable, safe and reliable systems but beside that Windows is one of must sold in the world.
For professional reasons and because I live with others who also have access to my laptop and they only know how to work with windows, this is my system operative and I tell you sometimes I fell a real desire to destroy my laptop with a hammer!
I have Windows Xp (this version came with the laptop) still hold on the pressure and use I give him. But times to times, a message pops on screen telling me I have a few errors on my system and advising me to search the solution on the internet.
This kind of situation is frustrating and even the system is now a little more stable than before, still not perfect and I think they still have a long way to make it perfect.

So for people like me that needs Windows, don't give up... I found a small application that promise to save and improve windows, apparently is miraculous. Honestly I haven't try it on but I think I will. It's not expensive, the prize is acceptable and if really works should off.
Among all wonderfulls they promise, they say if we use it, the system will be stabilized, detected and clean duplicate files, disk space analizer, junk files cleaner, repair commum windows problems, etc, etc, etc... Ah And it works on any kind of windows! Sweet!

Lighting effects

Lighting effects it's something that I enjoy and, in my opinion never disappoint.
When issue is a music video with excellent lighting effects and body moviments, the final effect is always, but always overcome and add something to music and video itself. This add can be positive or negative, it's true!
Without wanting minimize music of course, but an good image power really can surprise us.
Body moviment and visual sensitivity that particular image gives us an image of human body wit all weekness and power, but also take us all certainties and provide us with clearance picture that we are just pawns in this world. Photography, ligths and shadows, neutral and dark colours also have a quote in this effect.
I can't find a better way or words to describe what I feel and think when I see, for example, this video from These New Puritans, which beside having a great musical force also can match their videos to their music.

Another video where this relationship between music/video/body moviment/light is well related, in my modest opinion is this video from Junior Boys with 'Bits and Pieces'. Three black persons with body paintings that reacts to dark light! Dance and random moviments just to high ligths light itself and their effects, almost psicadelic effects which once again add something positive to music.

Final year discount

Little by little everyday I get several emails from uncounted firms promoting produts and softwares and specially all the discounts we can get by buying those products until the end of the year!
It's one way to make that record of sales of many companys and another way to sell large numbers possible of this year edition, because in few months new and improved editions will be send to the market. But it's also a nice and cheep way for many costumer to get that specific 'way out of the budget' software we all want, and don't forget, even those new upgrades in the market, it's always nice wait one or two years to get a upgrade and these will cost you less then software.

So if you can and want to buy, my advice is do it near the end of the year or even until the end of this year! 2010 is right here...

(in December Metropolia Newsletter)

Here it's a genuine sentence with true meaning. Because when the light of one space is well structure, it takes second place and the space it self 'light up'. And this is truely the function of illumination, light the space, building but the source of it isn't prepotent and in the end the ambient win. This should be the really beginning of any interior designer.

By the way, I advice to everyone to sign in Metropolis Mag Newsletter, 'cause every month there is lots of interessing issues and articles and it's always good to be update in fashion, designm architecture, etc, world.

This year - I honestly don't know if in the past Tate made something like this - TATE have a perfect tecnologic criative solution for us to send christmas cards by email. This post cards are a little special, because they all have a connection to art and based in TATE Kids collection pieces of art.

Lately I have been asking myself if is good have a blog or website full of google ads.
Personally, I spend a lots of time on internet and I see too many blogs with too many ads. This destroy any aesthetic and may confuse the reader and interfere with the reading of the post, specially when this ads are in the middle of the post. This can make the reader (a casual reader) think that link make the a part of the post and this is not fair to him. This can make the blogger a few extra cash but he trick the reader, the reader who as interessed on the post. Maybe this is a remote possibility but can happen, and that ads are simply visual noise, distracting the reader/visitor and for me is one of the main reasons to never go back to that blog, because in this cibernautic world, I know I can find another blog with similar interessing posts and less visual noise/ads.
Is known that the human eye needs space/blank to read one text and the blank unifies and gives meaning to the phrase and if exist to many information is extremely likely that the reader will be tired very soon about the post and the guilty is everything surronding the test is confusing and needless.
But seams to me, everyday is more and more google ads on blogs and bloggers may not have teh conscience of what they really doing, and just focus on monetary benefits. It's fair but it's kind of sad.
I can not blame this attitude completely, because I myself have this kind of ads, but I think they are positioned discreetly, even secondary ... Always in the end, at the end of the blog, at the end of my widgets bars. This way, I give the reader/visitor the decision to click or not in google ads and I don't think in the monetary benefits.

Whenever I come across this situation, I can't stop feeling a little tricked and troubled.
So I would like to give a few tips about this issue:

1) If you use google ads or another kind of ads in your blog or website, they must be marks as such and clearly distinguished from the post.
2) Avoid similarities (in style) between your blog and ads, ie, the lettering and colors must be different. Even in anyway they match, must be a distinction
3) Make a break on post to put one ad, distract the reader to something to important in that moment he's reading your post and his full attention should be on your post.

Remember, the reader has the power and the right to choose not to visit your blog any more, and if he start to feel troubled with exaggeration ads in such short space, I'm pretty sure you can count your visitor will not came back so soon and you will lose visitors that in a long term, could be regular visitors and maybe eventually they would use your links and ads.

Well, I confess that I'm wroting this post with a little of hope that some how a chain starts and one day I may realize all bloggers gain conscience and all internet experience will be must more pleasant.

Japanese Night at Espaço Nimas

Espaço Nimas is promoting a Japanese Night, where Hana Kogure songwriter and singer will act as well dancer and coreagrapher Hajime Fujita. The movie Madadayo will be projected and they will also hosted a japanese cocktail with sushi, sakê, sashimi and tea. All this just for 10 euros. Start at 21h30 on December 12.
Must be fun.

Nippon Koma at Culturgest

For those who don't know, I'm taking japanese lecture since September and the oriental center created one email where everyone can comunicate and share information. That's how I find out about this, Culturgest is hosting a Japanese Cinema Show since 7 until 12 Dezember, where all movies have english translation and with a great diversity of films, like documentaries and animation films. Or it wasn't Japan known for this kind of films.
Personally I enjoy very much animation films and in the program appears this one I have seen already and like very much, but another one catch my eye. Saw trailer on youtube and seams to be very 'revolucionary', because mix several drawing and animation technics, beside story looks funny.
See the program and to everyone that can go, go. Tickets cost only 3,5euros (lower than 'normal' movies theatres) and it's also a chance of a film routine!

MoMA and Tim Burton

Before anything, I want to say thank you to my dear friend Vera who share with me her interest about Tim Burton's exhibition, soon to happens at MOMA, because without you my friend I wouldn't find out it so soon and I wouldn't see this beautifull website and (re)discover the work of this great man/genius/madman/film-maker/"something more I can not remember right now" named Tim Burton.

To all of you, I advice to see and enjoy this website, created specifically for this exhibition. The website is very cool, since the very beginning with the lovely robot until Tim Burton's interview about MOMA's exhibition and what this means to him, how he lokes to his work, drawings, etc.
Personally, that's what excites me most during my research and discover of an artist as a person or even one particular piece of art... it's the motivation, the gear of all inspiration that led the artist to conceive IT... why, how and the way it's creator see the primordial idea and the mean of his art. All rest is meanless and secundary... the artistic movement, the granted social and artistic 'label', that to me is not important. It's the person behind the work and the effect (butterfly effect) the work has on the artist as a person
But see all creative process, drawings and scribbles made by him it's very exciting, makes me want to go back to my own weird drawnings, a little bit like androgen Paula Rego style.

(Personal note and a tip for all those pseudo intellectual... all genius or eventually considered genius, they doesn't play by normal education school. Tim Burton himself said he is thankful to his drawing/art teacher for never 'gave' him boundary or rules on Burton's style! I also would like to had that in my life while I was a student, maybe I would always follow my vocation and desire to study art.)

Vida e Caffè

I believe marketing and a good ads it's important to any company survive, but same time to time one company strikes hard with such ignorance and non sense that my poor soul fade away!
I don't know if all of you knows Vida e caffè (everyone who know portuguese... yes the acent is wrong... made by them!) but it's a franchising company all about espresso coffee and portuguese way of life! Well I'm portuguese and when I find out about this - a friend of mine write on her blog about this - I was simply without words.
Bad translations, bad images and most of all this kind of propaganda makes Portugal looks like some kind of fool country! This it's a south african company, and some one told me they like to do everything 'in portuguese way', but they do not it well.
And my friends, newspapers with articles like this .... OH MY GOD! How someone can make such interview and be happy about it? If you want to know how portuguese live, drink coffee, lunch, etc... I will be gland to do tell you, but stop publishing and advertising yourself this way!

Normally I don't go with this kind of modern stuff, but seems to me this software may be very useful to someone! Specially for those who don't feel confortable with short cuts and elaborated computer tools or just like everything simple and nice.

Gina's Animals

'Os Animais da Gina' blog is my recent blog created by Gina's request, so everyone may help her finding a nice home for almost 50 dogs as well giving her donations, because Gina has a great debt to vets. 50 animals require 4 bags of food each day, vaccines, deworming and daily medication for all sick animals. She's just one person taking care of these animals without external help and she needs essencially and urgently financial help and ideally a responsable adoption for these dogs!

New serie of illustrations and drawings

Right about Bianca's Agenda, that soon will be available and for sale on bianca's website, I create a serie of drawings - through the transformation of photos and free hand drawing using a graphic table - of animals.
Lines and texture are the only drawings methods used here and which I more enjoy doing it.
