“Great lighting is not about walking into a place and saying, ‘What great lighting!’ It’s about walking in and saying, ‘What a great space!’” —Mark Major in Jonathan Glancey's profile of the lighting-design firm Speirs and Major Associates, from the December issue of Metropolis. (in December Metropolia Newsletter)
Here it's a genuine sentence with true meaning. Because when the light of one space is well structure, it takes second place and the space it self 'light up'. And this is truely the function of illumination, light the space, building but the source of it isn't prepotent and in the end the ambient win. This should be the really beginning of any interior designer.
By the way, I advice to everyone to sign in Metropolis Mag Newsletter, 'cause every month there is lots of interessing issues and articles and it's always good to be update in fashion, designm architecture, etc, world.
